24 Of our cubs were part of a 200 strong pack from across the Newcastle district that attended Moorhouse activity centre in Durham for a weekend of activities planned & delivered by the Army officer training corps & Moorhouse instructors. survival cooking, climbing, assault course, first aid, shooting, silent disco, 2 cinema nights, football training, laser tag, map reading, & a hike were just some of the activities they took part in. Thanks goes to several parents who came along to lend a hand on a very wet Saturday afternoon, All of those who attended received an Army camp badge & cool tee shirt too. Sunday saw the sun come out to bring a very busy weekend to a close.
Cubs bike ride on the Derwent walk
A very sunny Friday made what would have been a good night out a great night out. Fourteen of our pack were joined by several parents for our annual bike ride. Many of the younger Cubs had never ridden their bikes for such a long distance but all rose to the challenge with everyone completing the whole route as planned. The promise of chips at the half way point kept them going and fuelled them for the return journey.
Cubs at the Dippy sleep over
24 of our Cubs attended a district sleep over at the Great Museum of the North (Handcock) 125 Cubs from across the Newcastle district spent the Friday night exploring the Museum, completing quizzes & eating tea. They then slept in the great hall along with Dippy the dinosaur! Saturday morning breakfast was followed by an investing ceremony of one of our newest members underneath Dippy. I’m sure all who attended will treasure the memories of a very special event for many years to come.
Jamboree on the Trail (JOTT)
Forty two beavers, cubs and scouts took part in JOTT. We went on a beautiful walk along Warkworth beach somehow avoiding the rain. Beavers and cubs walked for 5 miles and scouts walked for 8 miles.
Debate Night at Montagu
