Montagu scouts debated the Newcastle Clean Air Zone proposals. Both teams proved very good at heckling the other side! After much heated debate the side proposing introducing a charge for older vehicles won the vote.

Cullercoats Lifeboat
Both scout troops had an informative trip to Cullercoats lifeboat. We were shown around the lifeboat station and learnt about water safety.
Gang Show
Ten cubs and scouts from Central Gosforth took part in the Newcastle Gangshow. As always the hard work paid off and it was an excellent performance.

They have all been attending rehearsals since Christmas with the show taking place at The Peoples Theatre Heaton between 17th to 20th of April.
Morse Code Night at Montagu
Montagu scouts had fun building morse code oscillators and sending messages to each other. Not a smartphone in sight!
Basketball
Beavers, cubs, scouts, parents and leaders had at trip to watch the Newcastle Eagles play the Manchester Giants in their new stadium. The result did not go as hoped (Eagles 71 – 89 Giants) but everyone had a good time.
Scout Expedition Challenge – Kielder
Eleven older scouts gained their expedition challenge badge by walking 20 miles from Kielder Dam to the Scottish boarder, with a stopover at Hawkhirst Scout Camp. Each group planned what to eat, carried their own food and clothes, and navigated without a leader.
Remembrance Day
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all took part in the Gosforth Remembrance Sunday parade and wreath laying service.
Scout Camp at Derwenthaugh
Activities included boating, bake off, night hike, treasure hunt and karaoke. Big thank you to Bob for organising it.
